Consumer Electronics Recycling

Why electronics Recycling?

This year more than 40 million televisions and computer monitors will become obsolete in the U.S. Computers and televisions can contain materials such as lead and mercury that can be harmful to the environment if simply thrown in the trash. With 4 to 7 pounds of lead used to make an average picture tube, a few discarded TV sets can be as hazardous as a typical car battery. People want to get rid of electronics while remaining responsible, but often are unsure about what to do or where to go.

Why E4 Partners?

E4 Experience

Assistance to Best Buy Consumer Recycling

From 2001 to 2009, E4 Partners was retained by Best Buy Co., Inc., the nation’s leading electronics retailer, to help plan and coordinate their Consumer Electronics Recycling Program. E4 is proud of its role in establishing the leading recycling program in the US.

E4 helped Best Buy create a simple, convenient program for recycling electronics that protects the environment while raising awareness of recycling options. E4 helped design the program for Best Buy and assisted Best Buy from the inception of a recycling program through its growth into an ongoing electronics program now in place that collects electronics for recycling every day in every Best Buy store.

E4 assisted Best Buy in:

Determining the type of Consumer Electronics recycling program to put in place;

bullet

Identifying key strategic elements that were critical to a successful consumer recycling program.

bullet

Developing both short and long terms goals for the events-based electronics recycling program.

bullet

Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

E4 Partners was proud to be asked by the Federal EPA to create a “Tool Kit” on planning, coordinating and executing electronics recycling events for the Agency. The Tool Kit was posted on the EPA website and provided to local and state governments across the country as a guidebook to assist them in creating and holding their own electronics recycling events.

Electronics Manufacturers

E4 Partners has worked for a number of Electronics Manufacturers, including HP and Toshiba America Information Systems. E4 has helped the corporate Environmental Departments plan and coordinate electronics recycling programs and has provided all project direction and support for electronics recycling events across the country.
