Consumer Electronics Recycling

Best Buy wants to help you do the right thing for the environment and yourself when you are ready to get rid of the computers, televisions and other electronic products you no longer need!

Many electronic products, including computers and televisions, contain materials such as lead and mercury that may be harmful to the environment if discarded in the trash. People are looking for ways to get rid of unwanted electronics in an environmentally responsible way.

How is Best Buy Helping?

· Best Buy has started a simple, fun recycling program to help consumers recycle their electronics in an environmentally responsible way.

· Best Buy holds recycling events in some store parking lots each year. At this time, Best Buy is scheduling events at selected stores in selected markets.

· We are not able to take back electronics for recycling at every store.

· We hope to help bring service to all our markets some day, but at this point we are offering services only at events in certain markets.

Where else can you find responsible electronics recycling?

1. Check with your City or your County governments. You can look in the phone book in the "government" pages in the front of the book. Look for "Solid Waste" or "Recycling" offices. These government offices may have information about electronics recycling in your area.

2. Check the following websites for listing of recycling companies, events or ongoing recycling programs.

1. www.eiae.org -- they have a list of recycling options AND a link to other good listings.
